The violin is an instrument of special quality and has long been a favourite solo instrument of many composers. It is by far the more popular of the stringed instruments and has perhaps the greatest musical repertoire of any instrument. Tuition is available on an individual basis for students of all ages and levels, those learning for fun and also students preparing for exams.

Weekly classes are 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length depending on the proficiency level of the student. Examinations covered include the Royal Irish Academy of Music (held in Dun Laoghaire School of Music), the Associated of the Royal Schools of Music and the London College of Music. In-house exams are also available.

As a violin student at Dun Laoghaire School of Music you will have many opportunities to meet other string players and perform in the school’s ensembles. You will also enjoy ample performance opportunities including in-house concerts or concerts in theatres outside of the school.
